The Latest Kirin Ads

Here are a couple of new Japanese TV commercials for Kirin’s alcoholic drinks, courtesy of Japan Probe.

The first is for Kirin’s Highball in the can, and features gleeful, bowler-hatted, multicultural sailors.

I’m not sure which nation had such highly-advanced beverage-can technology prior to the 20th century, or had a navy who dressed like the cast of “A Clockwork Orange” and sang the soundtrack to Disney’s “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves” before either film was even made, but they must have had a smashing time there!

Next is a commercial for Kirin’s Cola Shock, featuring the only beach-bar in America which serves alcoholic Cola, with a waitress so cute that every alcoholic in town flocks there to get drunk in the daytime.

“Meisa, can I have another Cola Shock please? …Yes, I know I’ve had ten already… but, I love you. There, I’ve said it… No, I’m not crying… No, please don’t fetch security, I’m leaving now… Oops, I’ve fallen over.”

Actually, their uniforms aren’t so different from the typical Napoleonic era naval uniform:

    Good point!
Also, Napoleon was practically a dwarf, which would explain the “Hi-ho!” song.

I’d drink tons of that Cola Shock if Meisa Kuroki personally asked me to.
